Datasure TSA · eIDAS qualified timestamping
Understand the evidence you create.
Technical timestamp response, timestamped PDF or operation certificate: identify each artefact’s role and prepare for verification.
Three artefacts with different roles.
The timestamp response
A TSR file is the technical RFC 3161 response. It contains cryptographic material associated with the timestamped digest.
The timestamped PDF
PDF processing can embed a timestamp in the document, depending on the functions enabled for your plan.
The PDF operation certificate
This document presents information about an existing operation in a more readable form. It supplements the evidence without replacing the TSR.
Prepare for verification from the start.
A useful evidence package also depends on how your application retains and links these items.
The matching file
Keep the precise version of the data represented by the digest.
The cryptographic evidence
Retain the timestamp response and the material needed to check its signature.
Your business context
Link your own transaction references to the operation so you can retrieve the right evidence.
A qualified service with accessible references.
eIDAS qualification
Review Datasure’s service qualifications and the official European trusted-list entry.
Verification guidance
Find the verification methods and the artefacts used to check a timestamp.
Technical reference points for your integration.
Digests and protocol
RFC 3161 supports SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 digests. Simplified Premium functions use SHA-256.
A UTC time reference
The timestamp carries time information as part of the evidence. Clock accuracy and API response time are different characteristics.
Answers to help you plan your project.
Does the PDF certificate replace the timestamp response?
The PDF certificate makes an operation easier to read. Keep the TSR and corresponding data as well, so the technical verification material remains available.
Must my data be a PDF?
Timestamping can apply to digests of data in various formats. PDF processing is one of the available handling and presentation options.
Does Premium provide a higher legal qualification?
Standard already issues qualified timestamps. Premium adds technical functions and tools according to the scope of your plan.
Where can we find verification material?
Datasure’s guides explain the evidence artefacts and how they are checked. Plan for their retention in your architecture during integration.
Does decoding a TSR validate all the evidence?
Decoding exposes the metadata. Full verification also needs to check the signature, certificates and correspondence with the relevant data.
